An Online Career Portfolio Is Better Than A Plain Resume

By Diane Johnson

Even though getting work is a little easier than before, there is still competition to deal with. The best way to stand out is to create a package, which normally includes a cover letter, that gives the recipient more of what they want at first sight. While this can be done with most documents generated using standard software, an online career portfolio application can show anyone how to make the most of their assets.

Although some people may think that adding a lot of extras may take too much time, it helps to look at the effort as an investment. Being shy in a competitive industry rarely guarantees a paycheck and certainly does not help anyone move up the ladder. Using the modest traditional resume that lists skills at the bottom is becoming a thing of the past.

Anyone who speaks with a modern career consultant will be told not just show off skills on paper but work on their branding. Make a presence in an entity related to an industry outside of punching a clock. Join a live or online group. Write articles for various mediums or publish a periodical that relates to a specific genre.

One way to show off effectively is to learn how to insert anchor links and embed content so that it may be viewed by others. Many online resume applications have tutorials that demonstrate how to do this so it does not interrupt the flow of the document. What many job search experts will stress is placing these as close to the top of the document as possible.

Sharing content about an industry or participating in a lively discussion can lead to a job prospect or other opportunity when speaking with like individuals. For those who have strong opinions that have been expressed publicly online, it helps to conceal these as much as possible when job hunting. Do not add this type of link to any job search package.

Other features to add to a portfolio are certification badges, PDF copies of awards, degrees, and other credentials. When these items are placed as an anchor text link at the top of a resume, the recipient is most likely to place it to the side for further viewing. At one time, the concern of most job seekers was to ensure that everything was properly formatted but this has changed.

Being a show off can save time because often the recipient is working with a limited time frame where they can only view so many job histories within a period. Most hiring personnel will only read the first half of a resume. Ideally, they want to see key phrases or words on a work history will that justify the person in charge of hiring to set up an interview time.

Taking time to craft the modern resume will certainly pay off. Some employers have different requests, like sending everything as a PDF or plain text format. It may also help to experiment with different styles to see which gets the best response. This is the type of testing is what businesses do to determine whether a marketing tool will be successful or needs work.

Importance Of B2b Sales Training

By Larry Edwards B2b sales synonymously known as business to business selling is a commercial model where a firm or an organization transacts business with another firm. These commercial transactions are commonly done between firms who source their raw materials from other firms in order to manufacture their products. This arrangement is also evident in service industries where an organization may need the professional services of another such as auditing or accounting services. To increase profit, firms should introduce b2b sales training to its staff. An organization in a B2b setting will train its marketing team members to basically increase its turnover amongst other purposes such as seeking to retain its employees as well as enhancing the customers satisfaction levels. On the flip side, this model differs from the business to consumer model such that in B2C, products are channeled directly to the consumer.
