First, the GSM or the Global System for Mobile Communications. This is one cellular network where in phones connect by searching for cells located in a vicinity or area. The pico types usually are small where in the usual diameter of its coverage area is only a few dozen of meters. These types are used indoors. The umbrella types usually are used for covering the shadowed regions of cells that are smaller and for filling up the coverage in those smaller cells.

Second is third generation or 3G. This is mobile telecommunication technologies third generation. This is based on the standards provided also for the in common devices. The telecommunications have been using the services and networks that comply to the specifications of International Telecommunication Union. The 3G type is applied most often in fixed wireless internet access, wireless voice telephony, video calls, phones internet access, and TV in phones.

The ITU or the International Telecommunication Union did not clarify the definition of the exact data rate that the users will expect upon using the 3G provider or equipment. And for this reason the users that will sold this service cannot be able to point out the standards, thus, saying that the specified rates are not met. These data rates include the minimum required rate, required average rate, and the interface modes that will qualify being 3G.

Third is the 4G or the fourth generation which succeeds the network, 3G. Some applications for this include high definition TV phone, mobile web access, video conferencing, IP telephony, 3D television, and gaming services. It refers to IP packet switched networks that gives ultra broad band access or a gigabit speed to a mobile.

Fourth is the LTE or the Long Term Evolution. This is a standard utilized in a high speed wireless communication for mobile phones and for data terminals. The capacity and speed have increased due to different interfaces of radios utilized together. This network was formerly marketed as 4G LTE but not being able to acquire the 4G wireless network criteria as LTE advance.
