The Question About How Many People Are Employed In America Is Tough To Answer

Because of the economy in the United States, there are not as many people actually working as there were in, say, 2007. In government circles and the numbers they give out, they try not to talk about workforce labor rates. These, right now, are lower than they have been since the 1970s. So when trying to actually pin down how many people are employed in America, the numbers, because of the politicians who have to explain them, are hidden behind a lot of words that do not really mean anything.

The population of the United states is about 320,000,000 people. There were about 143,000,000 jobs available in 2007. That number of jobs available, since then, has dropped for a lot of reasons. Some reasons having to do with an aging population and some having to do with antagonism against business by the federal administration.

This is the year 2017 and the powers that be are reporting the unemployment rate is about five percent. You will notice that this number is so fungible that whoever is reporting it reports the number they need in order to get more votes. Some people get the idea that, because of this, that number is not altogether accurate and fact based but just a political answer that means little.

The administration that is in the White House, whenever the number is reported to the public, is the agency that comes up with the number. The mathematics that goes into that number is suspicious at times. Different administrations will use different criteria to make that number up.

138,000,000 is the number, by all objective information, of jobs available right now, in 2017. There are about 95 million people out of work who want to work. This does not include the multiple millions that have been forced into part time work who wants full time employment. That 95,000,000 represents those laid off, quit or other reasons and have decided not to look for work anymore simply because there is nothing in their area. Many of those missing jobs, we are told, are not coming back.

The published unemployment rate would mean that there should be 160,000,000 people working. When you take that number, factor in the workforce labor rate and balance all of that against the unemployed based on people not being able to work, you get different numbers. The numbers that are accurate do not measure up to the officially reported ones.

There are numbers that any administration comes up with that are called bias jobs. It simply means that, for the economy that is working the way they say it is, which may not be reality, there are liberties they can take with the numbers. The liberty they take is always on the positive. They claim that all of the things they are doing for the economy there should be so many jobs. They assign a number to these bias jobs and add this to the total amount of people working.

Actually the answer to the question about how many people are working and how many are not is a hard one to come up with. There are large numbers of people who are working only part time. There are those who do not mind that and there are those who must have full time in order to pay their bills. The answer is an embarrassment to those who want to believe their government about something.
